Quartz counter with a patterned tile backsplash and pendant lights

Pooja unit design · Jamshedpur

Built into the plan, not added on.

A dedicated niche or a full unit — designed to sit in the home, with storage, lighting and finishes that match the rest of the joinery.

A pooja space is still joinery.

Too many pooja units are bought ready-made and pushed into a corner that was never planned for them. The height is wrong, the shutters do not match anything else in the house, and there is nowhere for diyas, incense or the things that accumulate around a working mandir.

We draw it as part of the home. A niche in a living wall, a closed unit in a quiet corner, or a small room if the flat has one — with storage for the daily things, lighting that is warm enough for evening aarti, and finishes that belong with the rest of the carpentry. It should feel intended, not apologetic.

What's included

From a wall niche to a closed unit with storage. You decide the scale; we draw the details.

  • Location & sizeLiving, dining or a quiet corner — measured against circulation
  • Unit or nicheOpen, with shutters, or a small enclosed room if you have the space
  • StorageDrawers and shelves for diyas, incense, cloth and the things that pile up
  • Platform & backA surface that can take a lamp and a spill, and a back that can take a frame
  • LightingWarm, dimmable, on its own switch — not a leftover downlight
  • FinishesTimber, stone, metal — matched to the house, not a separate catalogue
  • Electrical pointFor a lamp or a small exhaust, marked before the wall is closed

Small unit, same standard

A pooja unit is often the smallest drawing in the house. It still gets a section, a finish schedule and hardware that matches.

Timber-clad ceiling above a cane-front sideboard on a herringbone wooden floor
Shutters and a back panel in the same language as the wardrobes
Brass tap and stone counter with timber bar stools
One metal for handles, a diya ledge and any small fitting
Quartz counter with a patterned tile backsplash and pendant lights
A surface that can take heat and oil without marking
3D design view of a living room with a leather sofa, framed art wall and pendant lighting
Drawn in the same 3D set as the rest of the room, so the scale is honest

Questions we get asked

If yours is not here, ask us directly — we would rather answer it before you commit to anything.

Where should a pooja unit sit in a Jamshedpur flat?

Wherever you will actually use it, within the constraints of the home. We will not force a direction that makes the unit block a walkway or sit in the kitchen splash zone. If a particular orientation matters to you, tell us at the measure and we will find the best wall that also works as furniture.

Do you build closed mandirs with shutters?

Yes. Open, with doors, or a mix — doors for when you want it quiet, open for daily use. Smoke and oil mean the insides need a finish you can wipe. We will specify that rather than using the same laminate as a wardrobe shelf.

Can you match it to the rest of the interiors?

That is the point of doing it with us rather than buying one. Same timber or laminate family, same handle finish, same lighting temperature as the rest of the room. A pooja unit that looks imported from another house is usually a bought one.

How much does a pooja unit cost?

A wall niche is one number; a floor-standing unit with storage and lighting is another. After we agree the size and the finishes, you get an itemised estimate — carcass, shutters, platform, lighting and hardware — so the small extras are visible.

How long does it take?

Usually in the same factory batch as the other joinery if it is part of a larger interior. On its own, a couple of weeks in the factory and a day to install, once the wall and the floor in front of it are finished.
