Timber-clad ceiling above a cane-front sideboard on a herringbone wooden floor

False ceiling design · Jamshedpur

Ceiling as a designed surface.

Cove, peripheral or full drop — drawn with the lighting, not added after the electrician has left.

The ceiling is a wall you live under.

False ceilings in Jamshedpur are often sold as a default. A full drop, a few downlights in a grid, a cove around the edge because that is what the last flat had. In a low room it makes the space feel smaller. In a tall room it can hide a beam and carry the lighting. The difference is whether anyone drew it against the furniture.

We treat the ceiling as part of the room plan. Where the sofa sits decides where the light should fall; a beam decides whether you need a full drop or a peripheral tray; the fan position has to be livable, not just centred on the slab. The drawing comes before the gypsum.

What's included

A ceiling without a lighting plan is just a lower room. Both are drawn together, and priced so you can drop either.

  • Ceiling typeFull drop, peripheral tray, cove or a partial plane — chosen for height and beams
  • Lighting layoutAmbient, task and accent on separate switches, marked on the same drawing
  • Fan & AC positionsSwept against furniture so you are not sitting in the draft
  • Beam & duct coveringOnly where it earns the lost inches
  • MaterialGypsum, plywood, timber cladding — specified for the room, not as a default
  • Electrical coordinationPoints moved before the board goes up
  • Painting & finishThe ceiling colour decided with the walls, not after they are done

The bits that show if you skip them

A cut-out that does not line up with the sofa, a fan that hits a pendant, a cove with no way to change the strip later.

Questions we get asked

If yours is not here, ask us directly — we would rather answer it before you commit to anything.

Do I need a false ceiling in my Jamshedpur home?

Not always. It is worth doing when you want concealed lighting, need to hide beams or ducting, or the room is tall enough to lose a few inches. In a low-ceilinged flat we will often recommend a peripheral cove or a partial tray instead of a full drop, and say so before you spend on it.

How much does a false ceiling cost?

It is priced by area, type and the lighting that goes into it. A plain gypsum drop is one number; a tray with cove lighting and a few pendants is another. You get an itemised estimate after we measure the room height and agree what the ceiling is actually for.

Gypsum or POP — what do you use?

Gypsum board for most rooms — cleaner edges, faster, and easier to service if a light needs changing. POP still has a place for certain curves. We will specify which, and why, on the drawing rather than leaving it to whoever turns up with a mix.

Can you add a ceiling to a room that is already finished?

Yes, though it is messier. Furniture has to move, painting usually needs a touch-up, and some electrical points may need extending. We will tell you that at the estimate, not halfway through the dust.

How long does a false ceiling take?

A typical living room is a few days once the electrical points are marked — framing, boarding, taping, painting, then lights. Larger homes are sequenced room by room so you are not living under a site for weeks if the rest of the house is occupied.
